Weekly Update 13 – Happy Birthday to me!

Hi, welcome to another Weekly Update, this one is my birthday post!

This is actually a weekly update covering a few weeks. We have had the Ilkeston fair and had the October half-term holidays, but I didn’t take any time off. Ewan came to work with me for two of the days and I worked from home as usual for two days. I will get onto that in a bit. Then Chloe and I had an invite to the launch party for Olivias Townhouse Nottingham.

Since then it has been more Uni visits and a busy time at work! Yesterday was my birthday and although I was at work it was a good one as we celebrated at the weekend. I went to a drive-in cinema on Friday night and for a curry with all of the gang and my sister Teresa and her husband Kev on Sunday night.

School

If you have been following this blog for a while you would know about the problems Ewan has had in the past with bullying. This last few weeks have been a nightmare, as it all built up again and this time we got the police involved – it hasn’t been resolved fully yet either. It’s put a lot of strain and Ewan and the whole family, thankfully school are now working with us to get it sorted. I don’t really want to go into detail as that wouldn’t be fair to him, I am mentioning it more as I have not blogged a huge amount (family always comes first!)

Work fuddle

We had a fuddle on Thursday 31st. A fuddle is like a buffet where everyone brings in a dish. The theme was Europe as we thought that Brexit may happen. It didn’t but we had the fuddle anyway. I was representing Germany so made Potato and Saurkraut balls that although they did not look that flash they actually tasted ok. I also made a German Baked Cheesecake.

Eddie was Poland so he made a cucumber, cream and dill side dish and I bought a polish cake and some Polish Fudge.

Friday

Chloe and I went to a VIP Launch party of Olivia’s Townhouse in Nottingham. This was supposed to be the week before but got delayed as it wasn’t finished. I think I will do a separate review post on this but here is a pic!

Birthday weekend

Friday 8 November

On Friday I had booked for me, Ewan and Chloe to go to a drive-in cinema. We do not really get these in this country so it was a novelty! I have been to an outdoor cinema a couple of times, but they are in the summer so it’s great that they have started doing these to use the equipment in the winter.

We went to see Bohemian Rhapsody so it’s not a new film, but I hadn’t seen it and it was definitely on my list. It was brilliant and it was good to be able to sing along without anyone (I hope!) hearing me!!

The Drive-in Cinema was at M1 J28 shopping outlet in the new overflow car park and it cost £25 for the car. What was good was that we got there whilst the shops etc were still open so we went to Wagamama to order a delivery to the car for the start of the film and also we popped into the Cadbury outlet for chocolate and Starbucks for a Red Cup drink.

Overall I would definitely do it again!

They give you an FM station that you tune your radio too so you can hear the audio, and if on the front row with automatic headlights they cover the lights with a magnetic cover so it doesn’t affect the screen.

Was a great start to the birthday weekend!

Saturday/Sunday

Saturday was a visit to a Uni for Tom – this one (which I am not going to name!) was not that great and not going on the list. After I came home and worked for several hours as I had a deadline.

On Sunday Eddie made a special birthday breakfast and then we visited parents to collect birthday gifts.

In the evening we all went out as a family for a curry (all the kids which never happens these days!) to Five Rivers in Ilkeston.

It was really nice as always – the owner even brought me out a Birthday Cake!! which was a lovely surprise.

Birthday

I was at work on my birthday, but it was still a nice day – some lovely gifts from a couple of work friends which was lovely of them. Treated myself to lunch in the cafe at work which was delicious and I made sure that I logged off on time!

I hadn’t wanted gifts as I wanted money to spend in Leeds with Katherine. Eddie got me a Dupe Go Pro from Amazon – I am thinking of vlogging so I can play around with this without committing a lot of money too it. I some other nice bits, I won’t list them all but from the kids, I got a jumper from Chloe, a craft magazine and chocolate from Ewan and a reed defuser from Tom.

Overall it was a fantastic birthday!!
