New make up purchases

Sorry for the delay in posting this makeup purchase write up! I have been trying to make sure that my website is GDPR compliant.  I think it is now, the new privacy page is here.

Also, I have been doing a lot of soul-searching on why my blog posts just do not flow easily – I seem to come up with ideas of what I want to write, but then do not do them.

Part of it is down to the amount of time my full-time job and family take up.  But mainly, I have decided its because I am writing them in a style that is just not me!  I think my blog to date is fairly professional, and probably is good from a readability and SEO point of view, but it lacks the chatty sometimes funny, sometimes grumpy way that is me.

……..So I am going to try and inject more Julie into my posts and see how that works.

On the bank holiday weekend, we went up to Meadowhall as I needed a few bits.  Here is a little write up on what I bought.

Makeup from Clinique

I have been desperate for some new foundation for ages – the subtle hints I made for Mothers Day back in March fell on deaf ears – in fact thinking about it the same subtle hints were made at Christmas and I think I November for my birthday.  A bit like the hint I have made for having some pandora spinning rings – think I am on probably the 5th or 6th year of subtly hinting that I want them!!

Anyway, I was out of all foundation completely so I finally decided that the time for waiting for it for a pressie was over.  Luckily for me, the Clinique counter at the House of Fraser store in Meadowhall had one of the offers where you buy two items and you get the bonus items for free.  Its been a long time since I last bought off an actual counter, last time I bought Clinique foundation it was from a beauty outlet at the shopping outlet Cheshire Oaks.  I had no idea as to the shade I needed or anything as mine has long since worn off the bottle.  They do a service whereby they can set up a record with your shade on, which I have now done.

The girl serving me wasn’t great, she abandoned me part way through serving me, but I am still pleased with both items I paid for and the fact you could choose your freebies from a selection was even better as I have loads of the makeup remover at home.

What I bought…..

Clinique Make up

I got the super balance foundation in 01 Petal which I think is the fairest shade.  The shade doesn’t seem quite right. It definitely makes me look paler ( I don’t mind that and would rather be pale than orange!)

The coverage is just right for my skin and it never causes any breakouts.  I always feel nicer when I am wearing it and although I do not wear foundation every day I love it.

I also bought a Chubby Stick lipstick in Super Strawberry, again I love this.  It has a lovely sheen to it but it doesn’t stay on for long.  It’s fun to apply though and is a cute shade.

I chose the Moisture Surge Super Concentrate sample – I hadn’t tried this before and it is good as it drys almost instantly.  It has little “bits” in it which I thought at first was because it had been sitting in the store! But I think they are part of the formula for hydrating – anyway I love it.  It’s expensive though so would definitely have to be a Christmas or birthday pressie (won’t hold my breath on that one lol)

I also chose an anti-wrinkle cream with UV built in.  I guess I need to start thinking about using stuff like this.  Only used it once and again it absorbs into the skin straight away. I think I like it, but I am so bad at remember to do skin care.

The freebie mini mascara is the same as the high impact one I always use. This one has been thrown as a top up version into my handbag.  I also got a creme blusher chubby stick.  Whilst I never usually use creme blush, but actually, I love it.  I do not normally wear pink tone blush either but again the colour is lovely – I am a convert!

Lastly, I picked the lipstick and I love both the colour and how long it stays on for.  I would definitely re-buy this lipstick as I love it.  I have worn it pretty much daily since I have had it!  They also threw in a cute little makeup bag – I always need makeup bags and love this one as its a perfect size.

Overall

……Clinique has not disappointed me (as always)  I love the makeup and skin care.  It’s more expensive than some of the stuff I buy in Superdrug; but I love it and it lasts a while so I think its totally worth the extra cost.

Anyway, that’s my quick review of my make up.  We also went to Victoria’s secret where I got measured and got two new bra’s.  Having never been to Victoria’s Secret to be measured before, the experience was brilliant.  She brought me a lot of different styles to try. I came out with two, neither are styles I would normally buy.  I will definitely be going back there for underwear.

We also treated ourselves for a house type purchase but going to save that for another day. I think I have warbled on enough!  It’s my wedding anniversary tomorrow, so we are heading out for tea with the kids.  So think I will get this posted and perhaps try and do another tomorrow if I get time.

Have a lovely day and hope you have had a lovely weekend. It was the Royal Wedding here yesterday and it was such a fairytale wedding its made me feel very happy with the world 🙂
