February Update

Well hello, it’s February! Lots of posts on blogs and Instagram, all say about January being the longest month, but for me, it has sped by!! Literally it feels like 5 mins since I did the Happy New Year post. I have failed miserably to put up a post since then.

January – what happened?!?!

January has been a hell of a month. I got ill with a really bad cold the second week of January and it has just been so hectic. I didn’t even set myself any goals as I knew I wouldn’t achieve them and I just couldn’t face not achieving them on top of everything else (happy burying my head in the sand).

Family stuff and work

Work has got the better of me yet again – work work work!! On top of that, my Mum has finally had her hip replacement surgery. This has meant lots of time spent looking after her and my Dad. And as work is super busy that meant working all day Sunday and late nights to catch up. I still feel in denial about my to-do list, I really want to use my Bullet Journal but looking at my to-do list right now takes me to a scary place. Perhaps February is the month I start again!

House fails

To top it off, my washing machine broke down last week!!! so we had to go to the Launderette with 4 huge bags of washing. We came home to get it dried as not all of it can go in the Tumble Dryer (Damn you Primark!!) to find that the central heating and hot water does not work. Yep my boiler system has also broken down.

We have been in this house for 15 years in March and it just feels like everything is going wrong!!

January Wins

Chloe and I did some visits to the charity shops in Ilkeston and also West Bridgford in Nottingham and found some bargains. We are both trying our best to not buy fast fashion, and to thrift where we can.

I managed to get a top and a couple of skirts (they don’t fit but I will get to that in a minute!) Chloe did well and got quite a few tops and some other bits.

We also got some mini pottery pieces and we are going to start making some little candles made in vintage crockery to sell on Etsy. More on that when they are ready!

February Goals

  1. Continue Thrifting – I would like to get some more bargain clothing pieces and also some bits for the home that I can do something crafty with!
  2. Make some candles – we have bought the wax, wicks, fragrances and some lovely vintage pots to put them in, we just need to take some time to actually make them!!
  3. Finish the Couch 2 5k – I have started running again and I am really enjoying it. I have completed week 4 and have gone out 2-3 times every week, I would like to complete it and run a 5k.
  4. Post on the blog at least once per week.
  5. Start a Vlog documenting my weight loss journey!! Partly for accountability for me and also (hopefully) as a side hustle!
  6. Meal plan and stick to a tight budget every week – I am going to do a post on this too.
  7. Decorate or make something crafty for Valentines Day
  8. Get my boiler replaced!! and tick another house job off the list!

Things are going to be tight over the next few months in our house. I am going to try and post about how we are managing our budget too.

Watching and Reading

I finished the book I was reading called The Village Affair **- it was good and it was one of the Prime Reading books so it didn’t cost me a penny (link for a 30 day trial to Amazon Prime here)**.

TV boxsets- I have just finished watching October Faction on Netflix – this was good. It did almost blew my mind when there was a lot going on at home, as there was a lot going on on that too!

I have just started on The Stranger which is a Harlan Coban one. I am totally hooked and just one episode in! Richard Armitage is in it and he is getting better and better with age!!

See you later
