New shoes – shopping nightmare!

Apologies for the unplanned blogging hiatus!  Its been a busy time at work, summer hols for the kids.  I have also been lacking a bit of inspo…….this post is a bit of a moan about a recent shopping experience for shoes – sorry for the long post……

We were due to attend the first of three weddings this year.  I went for a dress that I knew I would be able to wear again, as more of an everyday type piece. As you may already know I am losing weight (see here if you want to read about my journey) and I want to get my wear out of it before it is way too big (unfortunately that is way off for me at the moment!)

Anyway, as the dress was not a traditional wedding-guest outfit, I thought I would dress it up with some nice shoes and accessories.  I  saw some lovely shoes in Debenhams, but as they were £50 they were a little bit out of my budget. Then Eddie bought a new road bike (a random thing to just go out and buy I know!) Anyway, I decided that if he could spend that much on a bike, then I could treat myself to “the” shoes!

The shoes I ordered – and still love

Ordering my shoes

This is where it started to go wrong…..I got home and realised that I had got some money on my recognition loyalty card for House of Fraser, so I decided to see if they stocked the same shoes. Success!! they did.  So I ordered them.  This was the Sunday night. As the shoes were £50 or more they had free 3-5 day delivery, so they should have arrived in good time for the wedding.

Eddie rang me at work on Tuesday to say my shoes had arrived.  I was a little surprised that they had arrived so quickly.  When I got home and opened the parcel, it was obvious straight away that they were not mine.  They were a size 3 (mine were a 7) black pointed but also flats.

Customer service???

I rang them straight away, and the customer services had no idea how I had received them as my order was not showing as dispatched.  He thought mine would still arrive and said he would email the warehouse to find out what to do with the others I had received.

The next day I got an email saying I had to send them back using the note that was on the dispatch email – I had not had a dispatch email since my order had not been dispatched, so I phoned again.  This time they said they could not send me a label to send it back as my order hadn’t been dispatched. The only thing they could figure out was for me to go to a store.

Anyway, to cut a long (sorry I did warn you!) story slightly shorter! I went to the Nottingham store and after waiting and “discussing” for over an hour, I finally got my money back.  I can honestly say I would never order from House of Fraser again.  The customer service was shocking, and the whole point of ordering online is so you do not have to go to a store!!!

What I bought and wore to the wedding

Fast forward to the Saturday.  Another Meadow hall visit and a trip to Schuh and I found a new pair of shoes!!!

New shoes - Flirty from Schuh
Sorry for the bad pic – took it on a dusty path at the wedding!

Love my new shoes – they are not ideal for a wedding (wearing them for 12 hours ) but they look great on and certainly “dressed up” my dress 🙂

I am going to do another quick post on the wedding as a part of a “my weekly roundup” post in a few days.
