Weekly Update No 5

Hello, hope this post finds you fit well and happy. Here is Weekly Update No 5.

Sorry that there was no update last week, Eddie took part in a half ironman relay so we were in Norfolk for the weekend. Chloe posted a lovely treat recipe for blondies, and I also posted a guide to eating out in Venice. Anyway here is the last couple of weeks in pictures.

Carsington Water

So it was another really busy week at work, roll on August when it may start to calm down a little. On Tuesday evening, Eddie was taking part in a Running Club league race and Chloe, Luna and I tagged along for some fresh air.

So glad I went, it was nice to get some fresh air. Its beautiful scenery and was just what I needed to destress. I think Luna enjoyed it too!

Norfolk Camping

On Friday evening, straight after work, we headed down to Norfolk. Eddie was taking part in a relay team for the Outlaw Half Ironman.

We decided to camp as we were still recovering from Italy and didn’t want another expensive break. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed camping! I mean I don’t go all Bear Grylls and rough camp – we do our own version of glamping. We got our tent up in record time.

It has three bedrooms and a nice big living room. The built-on bit on the front is good for cooking under to. I still think it is the best choice of tent for us even after all these years.

This time around we made two bedrooms into one big bedroom so we could put Luna’s basket in with me and Eddie. Then Ewan had the other.

Sunnydene Farm

We stayed on a site called Sunnydene Farm, it was fairly basic but it was nice and flat and very spacious. It only had two toilets and one shower (which you had to pay for), so I am not sure I would want to stay during school holidays if it was full. Also, the dishwashing sink was drinking water only so it was cold water which makes it harder. The people who ran it were lovely and it was perfect for Holkham Hall.

The only downside of where we stayed. There were bangs going off a lot day and night – they were bird scarers for the local farms, but it scared Luna as she is a nervous dog and hates fireworks etc. Not sure if all of Norfolk have them going off all of the time, but it is not good at all.

Holkham Hall – Outlaw Half Ironman

We had to go on Saturday for the race briefing and it rained – a lot so I was dreading it, but I needn’t have worried as it was sunny on the day.

Eddie was originally supposed to do the cycling section, but after damaging a tendon in his finger a couple of months ago, he switched to the running part of the team. It was an early start. Kirsty who did the swim part had to be in the lake for 6:37 am and we wanted to be there to see her go in the water. The alarm went off ridiculously early – although there was a cockerel on-site that acted as a pretty good alarm clock anyway! So we got parked up for about 6:10 am.

The event is so well run and Eddie wants to do the whole thing at some point (as does Ewan). Personally, I cannot think of anything worse. I am not built for swimming and to swim 1.5 miles then cycle for 56 miles followed by a half marathon – no thanks!

They finished the whole thing in 6 hours 4 minutes. Eddie was a little disappointed as he was hoping for sub 2 hours for his half marathon, but it took him 2 hrs 13 – but in the heat and sun on a challenging course, I think he did brilliantly.

Holkham Hall is a beautiful setting. I had my first ever Vegan Sausage Roll, it was honestly one of the nicest things ever! I mean I am not ready to go fully vegan, but it’s nice to reduce the meat a little.

Wells Next the Sea

After the race briefing, we didn’t have a lot of time, but we popped into Wells. There wasn’t a huge amount open. But we had a nice wander and some chips on the front!

Reading and watching

Whilst camping I continued reading this booked that I borrowed on Prime Reading**

I am obsessed at the moment with watching Pewdiepie play Minecraft – to the point I am thinking of downloading it. All that time I used to nag the kids as they fell out with friends over it and now I am seriously thinking about playing it……..

I have also started watching Dead to Me on Netflix. I am about 6 episodes in and I am enjoying it. Quite a few plot twists and definitely worth a watch.

Wishlists

Prime Day is coming up on 15/16th July so I am hoping to pick up a few deals.

This is first on the list – we are going to try and get a couple more weekends in and our chairs aren’t great (they were only cheap ones). We also saw quite a few people with the little fire pit thingys and they looked good for when the temperature drops later on.

By the way, I went back to WW on Saturday. The last time I got weighed was 22 June and I haven’t really got back on track since before Italy in May. Now I am feeling a little more focused so expect some healthy recipe posts etc over the next few weeks!

And that’s it for Weekly Update No 5 – see you next week!
