Bye 2018 hello 2019

Birmingham Christmas market picture with happy new year 2019 written across it

Well hello, 2019 is finally here!

When I started to write this post I was listening to Fearne Cotton’s “Happy Place” podcast with Zoe Sugg whilst cooking a Keema curry (healthy – it is the new year after all ? ) and a lot of what she said has hit home.  Despite writing a post before about how I was finding it difficult to write because I was trying to write like other bloggers, I think I was still falling into the trap of looking at other people’s content and thinking I should be doing the same.

At the end of the day, I am not in my early twenties, so my current life experiences will be totally different to someone who is.  There is nothing wrong with how they are posting, that’s their style and their way of doing things, but it’s not me.  I think I had got to the stage whereby I didn’t post unless I had something proper to say – I don’t think of myself as an influencer – I like to chat (mostly about rubbish!) and this is more of an extension of that….so now even if I fancy writing a short post (like this one, when I have got home from work, been to the gym, walked Luna and am now cramming a post whilst making dinner!) then I am going to.

Anyway, I have taken a break, reflected and have made a list of things I want to post about.  I am not going to pressure myself into posting two-three times a week if I have nothing to say, but I am certainly going to try and post more regularly if I can.….this is my little part of the world and hopefully someone somewhere may want to read it.

2018 was a good year, a few weddings, friends that have had babies and friends that have announced they are expecting babies.  My babies continue to grow up far too quickly and 2018 saw one leave secondary school with GCSE results to be proud of, and for them to start doing A Levels at college.  It also saw my daughter get a distinction in her Art UAL course, despite struggling with her anxiety and going to University.

I am going to do a proper 2018 reflection post hopefully later this week and also a look back at December and Xmas 2018.  I am not doing resolutions but will continue to set myself goals like I did last year.
