Weekly Update 14 – Leeds 2019

Welcome back to a quick Weekly Update 14 titled Leeds 2019 – as I went to Leeds and it’s 2019! (I know I am so original!!). This is another one spanning more than a week. I had some annual leave but the knock-on effect was another busy week when I got back.

Leeds 2019

On Wednesday 13th, my sister Katherine and I headed up to Leeds for a couple of nights. We try and go away each year for some chill-out time and shopping. They are always a giggle and this was no different.

There were many many laughs and I kept trying to blog it all but nothing I wrote did it justice. So here are some pics of a few things we did in Leeds 2019 instead.

Hotel

When we booked to go we decided to go for a cheap hotel; so we would have more money to spend when we got there. We stayed at The Discovery Inn https://discovery-inn-leeds.co.uk/. It is very close to the train station, but also very close to Leeds Trinity. It was actually the ideal location for us.

The room was spacious and clean – it had a double and single bed and a kettle with tea and coffee facilities (it actually had 3 large mugs rather than dainty teacups!) I would say for the money it was great the only real downside was the dated bathroom that smelt a little of drains. It was clean and perfectly useable. The only other warning is that they charge for left luggage – its a £1 a bag so not much but its the first time I have ever been charged for this service.

I didn’t actually take any pictures of our room – how slack am I?!?!

This weekend

On Saturday Chloe and I popped into Nottingham for a wander around the Christmas market. The market is really festive so I am going to try to go back in the evening with Eddie but for now, here are a few pics (courtesy of Chloe – my phone battery died and did something weird).

We also popped to Hobbycraft as Chloe had to get some things for Uni, and I got some really cute fat quarts!

Not sure what I am doing with them, but I am thinking of making some scrunchies.

Saturday night, Eddie and I headed up to Leicester for a 60th birthday party for a work colleague. The weather was awful and the visibility on the motorway was poor, but it was a good evening so I am glad we went.

Today (Sunday) we popped up to East Midlands Outlet – we have a Black Tie Awards Dinner on 5th December with work and I am yet to get a dress (eek!!!)

I ordered 3 dresses from Boohoo, but they were ill-fitting and I didn’t like them in reality. Some of it was me and my hating my weight etc so hate how I look in everything but some of it was they were just not as advertised and poorly made.

I tried a few on in Leeds so I know the kind of thing I want – it’s just actually getting it. I am also on a tight budget so it’s got to come in cheap!

Anyway, Eddie managed to get a bow tie, I got some everyday foundation from the Body Shop outlet and I got a couple of Christmas gifts. So it was a successful day. Edit – was just about to link to my everyday foundation which is actually the beauty balm one, and found it now has horrific reviews so I am worried the formula has changed from when I last bought it – I will update you!!

This week I have a hectic time at work, but I have a catch up booked in with some friends on Tues and Weds lunchtime and another charity fashion show on Tuesday night……I am also planning some Christmas shopping with Ewan as he has an inset day next week.

Watching and reading

I am still reading “A Village Affair” by Julie Houston. I think its ok and perfect for an easy read on the train etc. Will let you know what I properly think of it when I finish it. If you want to read along the link*** to the book on Amazon is below. I am on Prime and this is free on Prime Reading.

I have just finished watching a Korean Drama on Netflix called When the Camelia Blooms – loved this! and I have gone back to the new series of Riverdale and I have restarted Line of Duty.

It won’t be long now before I start my annual Christmas rewatch of Gavin and Stacey!

Anyway – apologies for the short post. I have a couple more in a draft that I am working on, so hopefully!! I will see you during the week!!

Julie xx
