New fitness challenge

So in order to help with my weight loss journey, I purchased a subscription to Beach Body on Demand.  I started off looking around and doing the 21 day fix but then I got ill and had to miss a week.

Whilst off I was watching a Youtuber who has a facebook group for fitness challenges and they were starting 80 day obsession from the beginning of March, so I joined the group and it’s been brilliant.

I mean it’s hard, actually scrap that it’s really bloomin’ difficult. Some of the positions they expect you to get into a contortionist might struggle with. I have been introduced into a world of resistance bands, weights and things called “sliders”.

Phase 1 week 1

In the first week I struggled to keep up with working out everyday, especially as some of the workouts take an hour so factoring in getting changed before and showered after it’s 1.5 to 2 hours. And after a long day at work it’s hard. Also my body just wasn’t used to it. I did have to miss a day as it was Eddies birthday and I had to do some last minute shopping. But I even worked out on his birthday.!

Phase 1 week 2

This week I have been really motivated, I actually want to do the workouts. Don’t get me wrong I don’t exactly look forward to them, I am no masochist. But the Facebook group are really motivating me to carry on.

It’s actually annoying as I am writing this whilst on the train to Liverpool. So no workouts for the next couple of days so I will be playing catch-up. And that’s fine as it has to fit in with life doesn’t it? And whilst away I will be walking loads so still getting to do some activity. I will miss closing all three rings on my Apple Watch though (I’m getting sad now).

Tips

I am not pretending to be an expert but from my first two weeks here are my tips.

1. Join a Facebook group or get friends to start with you to keep each other going

2. Pick something that’s challenging but do able. I can already tell I am getting stronger!

3. Plan meals in advance. It’s hard to get in after a long day, walk the dog, work out and then make tea when the workouts are an hour. If dinner is prepared it’s a quick reheat whilst in the shower.

4. If you don’t prep in advance invest in an instant pot as they are a time saver. I had jacket potatoes in mine whilst working out so they were done for when I had but didn’t have to have the oven on (I workout in the kitchen)

5. Try and commit to the time for yourself, no matter what.

6. Force yourself (suppose encourage is a better word) when you don’t feel like doing it as you will feel better and more energised after! I promise!

7. Invest in some nutrition. My workouts are making me hungry so I am finding it hard to stick to my WW points so I am looking in to some time of protein shake or something at the moment.

8. Enjoy it. No matter the results you are doing something good for yourself.

I keep joking how I am going to have. Beachbody in 80 days and I know I won’t but I should still be a better version of myself, even for trying!!!
