Being healthy 80% of the time – is it good enough?

Today I saw some pictures of myself which I really didn’t like. It’s really really upset me, and yet again I realise that my relationship with food has led me down a dark path. Being healthy 80% of the time – is it good enough to help fix how I feel about my weight and appearance?

Anyone who has read this blog for a while knows of my ongoing struggle with my weight and exercise. I am nothing if not a trier!!! (or is that trying ? )

Learning to be happy the way I am…..

In fact, I decided to seek guidance from good old Google, to see if there was anyone else the same as me. I found a blog post by someone called Andie Mitchell and their relationship with food, and it really hit home.

She said lots of things about learning to not let your life stop just because you’re not happy with the way you look right at this moment and about feeling like a failure for not keeping weight off.

I realise that I need to start again and also try to be healthy and I think if I can be healthy 80% of the time that’s good enough isn’t it?

Body confidence

Chloe sent me an Instagram for a plus-size lady to show me how some people deal with body confidence. But I just don’t think I could be that person, so, for the time being, you will not see many pictures of me. I either need to reconcile my mind with how I look, or I can really see a difference (or I find a blooming good filter lol).

Mentally I just don’t want to have to look back on my blog and see how I look right now so I am not like a typical blogger – you won’t see any OOTD -outfits of the day – you might see things on my wishlist. Things that I hope to get when I eventually feel happy with my weight and how I look.

Moving forward – being healthy 80% of the time

From now on it’s gonna be 80% rule for me generally. If I’m healthy eating 80% of the time I’m happy; if I can exercise and do activities 80% of the time I’m happy; that’s how I’m going to live my life. I don’t expect to be 100% perfect all the time; it’s a good job as I know that’s not achievable!

I am going to start sharing my meal plan and also some healthy recipes. Hoping that this may make me accountable and if it helps anyone else then that’s good too.

I’m undecided what to do about WW (Weight Watchers) because since the plans changed I really don’t feel like it’s effective for me. I think I have averaged at around 4lb loss over the year (losing and regaining) However, I really really like my leader/coach and the group has been good for Ewan.

The new way of thinking at WW should help with my positivity. I do start off the week ok, but I seem to only stay on track for 3-4 days. I really don’t know what to do on that one yet.

**Quick edit** some kids/youths who look way too cool just walked past my car as I’m sitting composing this. I am waiting for Tom to finish work at McDonald’s, its 10.30pm on a Friday night. I am reading it back to myself & they’re looking at me like I’m slightly crazy – they’re probably right haha!!!

Also, all this talk of being 80% healthy, Eddie just rang & asked if I can pick him up a Mcflurry. Perhaps my next post should be, how to get your husband to understand you have zero willpower!!

At work, we have a business awards dinner in December. I really want to feel a bit happier about how I look by then so wish me luck xx

I know how you feel. It has taken me a long time to be comfortable with my appearance and I still have my days where I am down on myself. I keep telling myself I have 3 beautiful babies that came from my body and no matter what I do my body just won’t be the same. I find my confidence stays up while I am home but when I go back to work I start comparing myself to other people. I would like to loose a bit before I go back to work in April 2020 but I don’t want it to rule my life either. It is hard to find balance, but 80% rule sounds good to me.

Work is definitely a big one for me, people wear beautiful dresses etc that just wouldn’t suit my body shape. You are right that we should feel proud of carrying 3 beautiful little humans – I need to remember that one!! I think you look lovely btw & definitely don’t let it rule your life xx
