Running update – Half Marathon Training Week 5
Not sure if I have mentioned it on here, but I used to run. I only started in my 40’s….typically, I was the one who has avoided any exercise for most of my life. I deliberately forgot my PE kit at school and things never improved for years. Then one new year about 3 years ago my sister asked if I fancied tagging along to running club. Back to running? Hopefully back to fitness?
Last year Last year, my running was starting to really come on. I joined Ilkeston Running Club the year before last. Although I found it hard I was enjoying the social side of running, and the health benefits. I mean, I definitely would not be the next Sally Gunnell. But I had brought my 5k down from 38 mins to 28. I also completed my first official 10k. All was looking great and so I entered a half marathon corporate challenge with work. As a part of my training, I decided to do a summer fell run. London Marathon Weekend with sightseeing and shopping!
Last weekend, we had a child free weekend in London. Eddies mum came to stay to look after Luna and the kids, whilst we headed off for the train from Nottingham to London St Pancras. Eddie and I were so excited as its years since we last had a trip to London. Of course nothing is ever that straight forward for us, so first to back track to Thursday….. Thursday – the day before London The Orthodontist was due to fit Tom braces, so I took an impromptu day off work. I also had to go to buy him a new school blazer. Also, I hadn’t so far taken a day off over the Easter half…
