Weight loss update?

I have been doing weight watchers for about 6 weeks now, so I thought it was time for a quick update on how it’s going.  I may try and do a weekly diary – let me know if this is something you would like to read!

Weight loss progress

Its been fairly slow, I lost an amazing 5 lbs in my first week, then I have done much smaller amounts since.  In total I have lost 9 lbs to date – the app isn’t telling me that.  As I rejoined from last year it’s only telling me the difference from when I joined in Feb 2017 to now rather than what I was in July 18.

The problem with only losing 9 lbs so far is that it isn’t dramatic enough to notice a huge difference in my clothes. As they were already too tight they probably feel like they fit, I will feel a lot more motivated when I can get into the next size down.

Now I am definitely not going to say I am finding it easy.  The thing with any of these plans, they work better when you can plan and time to plan is not a luxury I have at the moment.  I have been making healthier choices though.  Last Thursday we went out to lunch and there were some lovely burgers etc, but I had a chicken and bacon salad – which I really enjoyed!

This weekend will be interesting as I am going away to Somerset for a few days and I really need to keep on the plan at least 80% of the time (it’s just too hard to get back on it again otherwise)  Lets hope I don’t fall into a cider farm!!!

Good things about WW

I genuinely am enjoying eating healthier!

The app really helps me to keep on plan, I have been able to count even at Nando’s!

Flex – knowing I can roll points over and have flexible days without blowing my diet – normally if I go off the rails that’s it for the rest of the week but now I feel a little more in control!

Not so good things about dieting

Normally when I have been really busy and feel knackered I will suggest a chippy tea or a 3 in 1 (chips, egg fried rice and curry sauce in a box) – now I have to make something or come up with something quick an easy!

Not being able to drink really – I am not a big drinker, honest!  but I know that I never lose weight when I drink.  We have had a really hot summer and it was so hard not having a nice cold beer or cider!!

My group

I love the group I go to.  My Coach Glen is brilliant.  He has been a target member for years but shared with us how hard he can find it.  So far I don’t know anyone well enough to have made a proper friend yet, but they all seem to be a friendly bunch. I find the talks to be better than SW – we don’t all have to share our weight loss

hello my name is Julie and I have gained 12lbs from eating pies this week!” – I always hated that bit…..and the talk is just 20 mins which is perfect for me.  They have a proper subject and I get a lot out of it!

Favourite new food this week

Haven’t really tried anything new this week as I am winding my foods down for hols, but as a snack, and with my lunch I have had the Hula Hoop Puft crisps – only 2 pts a bag and they do feel like a sneaky treat

Last week I made a lower fat Pollo Pesto pasta – it was just pasta mixed with pesto and some 0% creme fraiche and some cooked chicken.  I did some mushrooms and onions to bulk it out and it was lovely – even had some for lunch the next day!

Another recipe I really enjoyed was a sweet potato, Halloumi bake from a weight watchers recipe card!

I am actually looking forward to the Autumn and winter as I love soup and stews and they can be fairly healthy and easy to prepare in advance.

I will be missing weigh in this week as I will be away on Saturday – so wish me luck for the next week!!

Jxx

Congratulations on your weight loss so far Julie! You are doing amazingly well. I know how hard healthy eating can be, especially when you have to cut out the alcohol and the tasty burgers. I really love the look of your sweet potato and halloumi bake, it looks delicious! Sweet potatoes are my favourite. Thank you for sharing and good luck for next week! ? xx
